Does anyone know where I can find burrata in Montreal? I've checked out a couple of places but so far my search has been fruitless, or cheeseless rather. I'm really interested in trying this cheese so if anyone has any helpful as to where I could find some that would be just swell.

It is readily available at the Fromagerie Atwater at Atwater Market.

Fromagerie Hamel at Jean Talon Market sometimes has it. The other Hamel outlets may too. www.fromageriehamel.com

La Baie des Fromages on Jean-Talon East near Fabre also stocks it from time to time. www.baiedesfromages.com

Irregular supply and short shelf-life mean that before making a special trip you should call ahead to check that it's in stock.

I saw it once at Hamel at JTM, but have not seen it since, and I have been in fairly regularly (about once a week). I saw it in the last 6-8 months. You may have to put in a special order, as it is rare as hen's teeth. I too would like to try it, and I am kicking myself for not buying it when I saw it.

I believe Hamel has it more frequently than once or twice a year, though I've not asked. The problem is the shelf-life, about 48 hours, so when they or anyone else gets it, it doesn't hang around. If I understood the clerk at La Baie des Fromages correctly (very heavily Italian-accented French...), they have an *arrivage* about once every fortnight.
