Freshly Made Tortilla Chips?

I wanted to pick up some freshly made tortilla chips for a party this Saturday. In the style of Tere's Mexican Grill or the Whole Foods in Pasadena where they cost about as much as my student loan payment.

Any recommendations of other stores or places to get them at?

The chips at Tere's are the best I've ever had. I think they must use their own homemade tortillas or something, because they are spectacular. If you find someplace the replicates this level of deliciousness, please share!

Ditto on Superior Market rec. As much as I love Gallego's for their fabulous chicken chili verde tamales, I think the chips from Superior are the best, most restaurant-like tortilla chips I've ever had. And a huge one-lb. bag is only about $1.50.

Ditto on Superior. Good salsas, too, although variable and sometimes over salted.

They make the tortillas there then fry them for chips, how much fresher can you get. Bought a bag of their freshly made taco shells yesterday and they were just like the chips.

Superior Market--they got the best freshly made tortilla chips and salsa.

Los Toros meat market on the southeast corner of Garvey and San Gabriel Blvd. have very good homemade chips and good guacamole.

Big Saver makes some very good thick ones. Northgate's chips look pretty good but I haven't tried them yet. If you need premade salsa, go with the formers or make your own.

The Salsas are very good... But they are mostly known for those chips... their Barbacoa Burrito and Chile Verde Chicken Tamales...
