Tokyo Narita Airport 3 Hour Layover - Good Sushi?

We have a 3 hour layover in Narita. I don't know the configuration of the terminals, but we're flying in/out via Northwest Airlines.

I don't know what food to expect in the Northwest lounge, but I'd be willing to venture out if there's something better in or around the terminal. Looking for good sushi, sashimi or soba.

  1. There are sushi restaurants in both terminals at Narita. Realistically, you do not have time to exit the airport.

Perhaps, I wasn't clear enough. I wasn't planning on going anywhere outside of wherever the Northwest terminal is.

Do you have specific recommendations for the best one, price is not an object, within the terminal where Northwest Airline is located?

Looks like you have two choices for sushi. Here's what's available for Japanese food in Terminal 1.

    2. i usually stop in at the kaitenzushi (conveyor belt) at narita airport--it can be pretty good if you order what's fresh on the board. never wanted to pay the premium for the sit-down restaurant for sushi there. though the korean place has pretty good bibimbap (sorry, off topic). if the northwest lounge is as lame as the united one, you'll want to get some food elsewhere--though the ANA lounge has some simple makizushi usually.

      1. With Northwest, you'll be in terminal one, so my suggestion would be the sit-down Sushi Kyotatsu. There' s a nice counter sushi bar you can sit at if you are alone and some tables inside as well. I find it more relaxing if I know I am past all the customs stuff and eat here, rather than in the main terminal restaurant areas. As the sign says, once you are here, its the last place you'll be able to eat sushi in Japan before boarding your plane. :)
