Really Liking the Black and White Cookies at Craft

Lunch at Craft today. Ordered for dessert (for the second time) the black and white cookies. They only have them on the lunch menu. Really good - not too sweet - just right. Actually too stuffed to eat them for lunch, but working late and eating them right now!

They just added cinnamon rolls to the dinner dessert menu. I really wanted one to take back to the office after lunch, but they said there is 40 minute prep time and you can only get them at dinner. I love cinnamon rolls, but they just seem so wrong for dinner, unless, of course, you are ordering them to go for breakfast the next day.

    I've received cinnamon roll brioches at the end of dinner. Wonder if they are the same..they were delicious for breakfast the next morning.

      They always give you a free cinnamon muffin to go after dinner. Is that the brioche that you are referring to? This was something new on the menu, for $15. The waitress said it was gigantic.

        The free muffin isn't always cinnamon. We've gotten blueberry, for example. Though I like the cinnamon the best. Will be having dinner there again next week, who knows, maybe the cinnamon roll will be on our table come dessert time, but it's hard to pass up the parfaits. Plus, like you said, something about it just seems wrong. I wonder if the cinnamon roll is part of a composed dessert with other components. Somehow I can't see them just slapping a big ole cinnamon roll on a plate, can you?

          From what the waitress said, it was not a composed dessert, just a big old cinnamon roll that had just been added to the menu.

          It sounded so delicious, yet so wrong for dinner, so we settled on the blueberry crumble. The crumble was okay, but I have enjoyed other desserts on the Craft menu better. The Strawberries & Cream with Crème Fraîche Bavarois, Pound Cake & Black Pepper Ice Cream is outstanding. For my birthday last summer, the waiter highly touted the Peanut Butter Cup with Peanut Brittle, Caramel Gelée & Caramel Gelato, which he said was his favorite. We ordered it, but I didn't love it, probably because I am not a big peanut butter fan and am not a big caramel fan (yeah, I know that would be a big clue not to order that dessert, but the waiter was so darn enthusiastic about it). When the waiter inquired how the dessert was and I mentioned I was unwowed, he took the dessert off the bill, which I thought was very generous since there was nothing at all wrong with the dessert and it probably would have been nirvana to peanut butter caramel lovers.

          I'll have to try the parfaits next time. I never even noticed them on the dessert menu. Thanks for the tip!

            We have also enjoyed their composed desserts, as well as various ice creams, gelatos, sorbets. They had a nectarine tatin with basil ice cream that was fabulous, and a couple of weeks later the nectarine was replaced with peach and that too was wonderful. The last two parfaits we tried - one was a cookies and cream, the other a smoked chocolate ice cream with cherries - were both really enjoyable. A few months ago we had one with marshmallow that maybe we didn't like as well. I think they are tending to have two parfaits on the menu on any given night but it used to be three. I've wanted to try that peanut butter cup dessert but haven't quite gotten to it. The parfaits are listed in the same column as the ice creams, below them.
