Anyone going to the American Wine and Food Festival at Universal Studios on Sept 27? Is it worth the $300 per ticket? (I know it goes to charity but it's still steep!) Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

I've been the last few years, fortunately, always as a guest of a patron.

There is tons of food, and it's fun seeing the celebrity chefs manning the stoves and serving you personally. The food is terrific - as expected with over 40 stations there are hits and misses. Lydia Shire (sp?) is there and serves a boatload of food - the line is always really long, and the portion is more than you would eat for a full meal. Bring your appetite.

Wines are average - Caymus and Silver Oak, or as we say, "Silver Joke", are the top end.

I always have a great time, but then again it's free. Unless you have unlimited resources, I'd rather take the money and got out to three excellent meals at $100/pp.
