Ocho? New Thai Restaurant in Waterbury, Vermont

travelames Sep 8, 2008 02:44 PM

Hi All, I noticed that there is a new restaurant on Main Street. I think it's called "Ocho". Has anyone been there yet? Opinions? Thanks!

So, this is what they mean by "talking to yourself". :-)

Well, I got the name of the restaurant wrong, it's "Ocha". We ordered take-out from them last night. Called in advanced and scheduled a pickup time, and they were on time, and the food still warm.

We had the Chicken Satay, Pad Thai Chicken, and the Pad Kee Mao with Shrimp. The satay had 6 tender pieces and the sauce was pretty good, pad thai and kee mao were also good. The only other Thai place I have tried near by is Royal Orchid in Montpelier, and I think these dishes were better at Ocha.

Cost... we didn't grab a menu, but it totalled $31, which is slightly more expensive than Royal Orchid, but I think worth the difference.

Went there September 13th. Great food at great prices.

Had Tom Kha soup (excellent) Tom Yum soup (not so good). Khao Soi (noodle curry with chicken- excellent, possibly the best red curry I've had). Crispy Duck on spinach (truly delicious, especially with some of the red curry from the khao soi). Spring rolls were delicious. Thai chicken wngs were fantastic.

Excellent! We'll definitely go back, even though it's 20 mile trip.

FYI- Ocha and Royal Orchid are owned/operated by the same family

Interesting... thanks abc23. I've tried the same dishes at both, and I prefer Ocha to Thai Orchid.

It's in the old Dillingham House (I think it used to be a doctors' office. If you are at the intersection of Main & Stowe Streets, it is just a few storefronts North on Main Street.

They are open for lunch. PRices seem to be between $7.00 - $10.00.
