Excellent but intermittent barbecue in Ann Arbor, MI

Hi, SE Michigan hounds. Today Dove Catering had a BBQ tent set up in front of the Morgan & York wine store, the former Big Ten Party Shop. He said he'd be there on game days this fall--it opened about 10 and still had 'cue when I went by at 2, during the game.

I had some really good barbecue wings. I tend to like my barbecue hot, but this was a superior mild sauce, with hints of several spices. The meat had obviously been cooked very gently for a long time, and it just about melted in the mouth. It came with an ear of roasted sweet corn and sweet potato chips, and the store had drinks of all kinds. He also had rib dinners and a sausage sandwich with peppers and onions. Good stuff!

Hmm, interesting, and good to know about. Price range?

The wing dinner was $11.95, for about 8 complete wings. I think he said the ribs were $14.95. I was sold on the wings just looking at them, so I didn't ask about the sandwiches, but I assume they're less.

Great find, Jim M. This is what chowhounding is all about. My mouth is watering already. I'm going to try it next home game, after everybody is stuffed into the Big House.

Chef Bell will be back this weekend with his terrific BBQ pork ribs and BBQ chicken. The game is at 3:30pm, and the chef plans to be here by 12pm to serve up the good stuff. Don't miss out!
