Something along those lines. Doesn't have to be game meat but, I certainly would mind if it was.Where are the venison nachos.

I'm pretty sure they serve venison chili nachos at Waterfront Ale House mentioned above

noche mexicana on amsterdam and W102. http://noche-mexicana.com/
order the steak nachos. it is a heaping plate of nachos with loads of great steak with cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and beans. this is the best plate of nachos i've had anywhere and it is only $9.00. they give you a basket of authentic chips and salsa at no charge no matter what you order.

For me, it is Bar 89 on Mercer street. Even if it is not a Mexican restaurant, it is a bar where you go to have the best drinks in NY, their salsa is homemade and the nachos are covered with LOTS of cheese! I don't really care for "inventive" or "creative" drinks made by "mixologists" so Bar 89 is the place for me. They make the best cosmos, martinis, mojitos, etc. They make traditional drinks and they are simply incredible!

I've had the nachos at Bar 89 and wouldn't call them "classy" at all. They're standard issue - just regular bar food.

how would you feel about queso fundido, which is similar in concept? it's a bit like fondue, not made with velveeta, and chips are served on the side, not with the cheese, so the chips never get soggy. mesa grill has an interesting (non traditional) version made with goat cheese, served with rajas + blue tortilla chips on the side.
