Fusion or Sushi and a bar after

I will be in LA on business and am meeting an acquintance for dinner, but need a place that is more non-business. We are both in our late 20's and would like a trendy-ish Asian/Fusion/Sushi restaurant. Nothing too expensive, but doesn't need to be cheap. Around $50-60 a person not in cluding liquor. Looking in the WeHO/ Beverly Hills area. It would be great if there were a fun hotel bar/ bar in the area for a drink afterwards. Mako, Koi, Kumo and Yamashiro were recommended, but not sure how great they are.

Thanks

i would try one of the two following options:

Tapas and Bar C in Little Tokyo and then drinks at one of several bars downtown, The Library Bar, Golden Gopher or 7 Grand.

or....in Hollywood hit Geisha House then bar hop on the Hollywood strip...

Thanks. I think I am going to give Katana a try. Looks like a good variety and cool spot.

        second the rec for Katana.

if you went to Katsuya, there's S Bar next door.

with small plates, agree with yabu or yatai.

Wa Sushi & Bistro has delicious food, and close to Sunset Strip.

Not on the Westside, but Takami and Elevate Lounge in Downtown LA might do. You can look down on the Standard Hotel pool.

          Koi is pricey-ish, but fits.

          Yamashiro stinks.
Kumo is dead, awaiting remodel to be reborn as the new Hamasaku.

Mako: good fusion food but very dry non-trendy atmos (when I was in my twenties I'd have rather rammed chopsticks deep into my eyeballs than sit thru a meal there)

Koi: probably closer to what you are looking for and has TONS of night life all around it

              Kumo: shuttered

              Yamashiro: no how, no way

You also ought to consider: Katana on Sunset, Katsuya - Hollywood, The Izakaya at 8420 W 3rd St, Ronin on La CIenega, Yabu on La CIenega, Sushi Wa Bistro on La Cienega.
