No doubt you are in chain-land up there, but there are a few places around. I would suggest the following:

Sushi 101 - very good and great priced sushi. Right across the street on JW Clay in Shoppes at University Place.

Amalfi's - local Italian place just down the road at WT Harris and 49. Good pizzas and peasant food.

Udipi - really good vegetarian Indian over by UNCC. Not too far from your hotel. There is a Bombay Cuisine for Indian too which is closer, but not as good (in my opinion)

Thai House - not great, but consistent and good Thai food. Right near you...

Pho Real - a local Vietnamese place. If you want Vietnamese I agree with Lardoon69 to head down to Lang Van; if you don't want to travel much this place is decent.

Junior's Chicken & Waffles - soul food. Stick to the ribs...

    Hope that helps. Enjoy....

I could be wrong, but I think Junior's Chicken & Waffles is now Coffee Cup...
