Dessert in Silverlake and Environs

Looking for a good place to stop in for dessert tonight after drinks and some food at Sgt. Recruiter. If there's nothing special in the area, I will have to head downtown to Water Grill for the red velvet pudding. Hopefully there is something worthwhile a bit closer.

I think Lark Bakery on Sunset is open late on Friday and Sat - maybe until 10 or 11. They have desserts and cookies and that sort of thing.

I love their cupcakes, especially the ones with the tangy cream cheese-ish frosting. I dont know if it is cream cheese or sour cream or ??? but some of their frostings have a fantastic tangy taste. If you like cream puffs, theirs are the absolute best I've had. Also, everyone I've met working there is very friendly. I really love their stuff.

Delilah Bakery at 1665 Echo Park Av., just north of Walgreen, does very good stuff. Call them about their hours, and if they sell to any of the local places. 323.975.9400

They sell their stuff to Intelligentsia -- or used to.

They do, but Intelligentsia doesn't have much in the way of dessert. Actually that reminds me though, if you're good with gelato, Pazzo is probably your best bet, open late and always good.

Love Pazzo (more than Scoops IMO.) For me Pazzo is take out though and sit down would be my choice tonight.

LOCAL just opened on Sunset across from Los Globos near Parkman -- looks like a cafe hipster comfort food type place. Outside patio and tables on the sidewalk.

Local is only open for breakfast and lunch right now, so not much dessert as yet. Dinner will come later. But cafe hipster comfort food sounds about right for the description!

I second Lamill, I think they close around 9 or 10 but it's probably worth calling to make sure.
Alcove is open until around the same time and has all those cakes and stuff although I don't know if they're really that good.
L.A. could use a place like San Diego's Extraordinary Desserts, with a nice patio, tea and coffee, open late, etc.

yes, the cakes at Alcove are good. That's because they don't make them! They get them from a few different sources, one of which is supposedly Susina.

I'v never liked Alcove's deserts. I used to live very close and really wanted to like them, so gave them many tries, but found them all to be way too sugary sweet for my tastes, the cakes chalky and in general poorly made.

Not sure what time they close, but I find the desserts at LA Mill to be quite delicious.
