Lunch in Elmvale area

I thought I would ask the most knowledgeable - so I need to ask all of you. 12 of us girls (our ladies ball team) are heading to Port Carling next Friday for our Annual Girls Weekend. We are looking to meet for lunch on the way up, after stopping in Elmvale for the bakery and some antiquing. Any fabulous recommendations where we could meet up, be it Elmvale, Midland or area. I have checked on another recommendation I found while searching for Mad Michael's. IT looks like my kinda thing, but wondering if I am missing out on some other gem.

Also, looking to find a great butcher around the same neck of the woods. Need to order a centre cut beef tenderloin for 12 for our Sat dinner.

Look forward to all your recommendations.

Kelly

Second Mad Michael's but, as a group, it's a good idea to call ahead.

There's a really good butcher near Midland on Balm Beach Road called Mueller's Meats.

In addition to Mad Michael’s there is Pieces of Olde, which is almost next door to the bakery in Elmvale. It’s a cute little small town lunch shop, frequented mainly by old ladies, a few locals, and some tourists in the summer. The food is really really good, but a very limited menu. Two things you should know: they close early, sometimes by 3:30, and they aren’t really set up for handling groups of 12. I suppose they can push some tables together, it probably wouldn’t be a big deal, but it’s generally not a group of 12 type spot. But the food is great and the service (generally) is sweet. Good pies.

There is a really good butcher in Elmvale but I can’t recall the name. I bought some ham and bacon at a nice little specialty shop called Fields of Green (literally next door to Pieces of Olde) and it was possibly the best ham I’ve ever had. Can’t remember who the supplier was but it was a butcher somewhere in Elmvale. If you ask the guy who runs Fields of Green where he gets his meat you’ll have your butcher.

In Midland there is a nice tea house called Serendipity (I think that is how they spell it). Great teas and scones and clotted cream. Also, not a party of 12 kinda place, but who knows. Finally, in Midland there is some restaurant down by the water, some kind of crabshack type place I think. Can’t miss it, it’s right on the lake. Never been, so can’t vouch for its food. But it has a great patio by the lake, which might be a lot of fun for your ball team.

Try to get to Mad Michael’s if you can. Delicious and really interesting.
