Where to eat in Cassis
We will be spending two nights in Cassis next week and would appreciate some advice. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to eat? So far I have read more good, than bad, about Nino, Romano, Clos Du Aromas, and Bonaparte. Since the first two are on the harbor and a good rule of thumb is "the better the view, the worse the food", I am leaning toward the latter two. We have a few pricey meals scheduled later during our trip and we will still be jet lagged so I have ruled out Villa Madie. Is there anywhere else in town I should consider for a dinner?
I am interested in Bouillabaisse, is there a passable one to be had in Cassis? I have searched this forum and found very little about Cassis, any help will be appreciated. I did post this before in a thread titled “A Week In Provence…”But only got one very helpful reply from Pammel. I am hoping more people have been to Cassis and will chime in here. Thank you in advance.
This is probably not going to be of great help to you. But for what it's worth, we were in Cassis for one night and had dinner at Nino. It was good but not extremely memorable. I'm not sure if they had Bouillabaise. I had a fish soup that was quite good.

sqbslo, thank you for the input. I think we will wander about and choose the restaurant with the happiest looking diners. High season is over so it should not be so crowded.

The Bonaparte is your best bet. I've been going there for 20 years and the food and atmosphere are great. Jean Marie does a good Bouillabaisse at half the price of every one else in town. You do to order it in advance however and it is for a minimum of 2 persons. You can have the same thing but without the fish by ordering the soupe de poisson. This is one of his starters and is included in the price of the 16E meal.
