My parents and I will be in Friday Harbor all of next weekend and need a couple lunch and dinner options. Upscale or dives as long as the food is good. Thank you.

Hi Zoe: I think one of the best places for dinner on the island is The Duck Soup Inn. Their menu is online so you can check it out. The atmosphere is delightful, cozy, booths or tables with linens. The service is excellent and the food top-notch. It's about 4 miles north of Friday Harbor on the Roche Harbor Road. For lunch, I love the Front Street Ale House. It's right across from the marina so you can watch the boats. It's considered "pub" food. There's a little something for everyone's taste. Both places are favorites of the locals. I've eaten at Downrigger's and have not been that impressed. But, it's worth a try since so many love the place. I've never been to Backdoor Kitchen but they say it's fantastic. Bellaluna has fair Italian food. I've never seen a dive here on the island. They might not be fancy but they are clean. Enjoy your trip up here! Our weather has been beautiful, sunny and mid 60's. Whales are still around, too. (I'm lucky, I can watch them from my deck)
