Spago or Sona or Ramsey's WeHo

I have narrowed the choices down to the three for my anniversary dinner/surprise. Debating tasting menu vs a la cart. She is picky so she more than likely would want to pick a la cart rather than tasting menu. so thoughts for the best meal between the 3 and some wow factor as well?

  1. I've only been to Sona...but I can tell you it was one of the best meals I've ever had (It was the first time I had pork my life is forever changed!). We did the tasting menu, but the a la cart menu looked delightful. The service was out of this world.

    1. Ramsay is the sexiest of the three--should put you in the mood.

i really want quality as well as some glam...i'll do the rest for the mood setting ;)

      2. I had a pretty well-publicized mediocre experience on my visit to Ramsay ( Unless the restaurant has stepped up significantly since then (and that certainly is possible), Spago and Sona would be miles ahead foodwise.

Thanks Kevin. I believe I have read it. And i think i was attracted to the fact that she knows who Ramsay is. Otherwise, it is down to Spago and Sona. We don't drink wine, so that makes the costs very similar. So my gut feeling is Spago because i've heard it so much. but i hear Sona is supposed to be exceptional. so i am stuck.

I've posted about the tasting menus at both places:

I'd say that I enjoyed Spago a bit more.

        2. I haven't been to Sona, but have been to the other two. Sona: I've heard completely opposite ends of the spectrum reviews from foodie friends. Also, I don't like Comme Ca.
Spago: excellent tasting menu, and also excellent a la carte. I had the tm more recently, though. I'd go back again on my own dime. They need to update their restroom, like get new faucets and things like that, not for style, but bc they are so old they're falling apart.
Ramsay: I found it to be so-so. I'd only go back on someone else's dime. I, for one, do not like that mish-mash decor.

          1. Go to Ramsey if trying something new and the scene and decor is most important to you
Go to Sona if haute-cuisine is what you're looking for
Go to Spago if you want something more relaxed (sona is more formal) and very california, but classy.
