I went to Mashti Malone's last night -- I can't believe I've been missing it all these years. It's a Persian ice cream parlor with the most interesting flavors: creamy rose water, ginger, saffron rose water with pistachios, orange blossom with pistachios. Also, they have your usual vanilla and strawberry and so on. I had a cup of the orange blossom ice cream with pistachios and it was out of this world! I loved it! Ask for a taste of all their unique flavors; I tried them all and they are all great! A friend of mine had the coffee ice cream and it was also delicious. It's located in Hollywood, on La Brea, about two blocks south of Hollywood Blvd (in the same strip mall as the Lava Lounge). I love Mashti's, but I believe their stuff in the freezer bin - the prepacked pints and quarts - are significantly worse than the stuff you get when you get a cone from the counter.
