Where to get a steak sandwich in Austin?

The only places that I know that make a real steak sandwich (cut steak, not Philly cheese steak or chicken fried steak) are Burger Tex and Fuddrucker's. Does anybody know where I can get my fill (preferably in North Austin, but anywhere will do).

Alamo Village and South Lamar have a steak sandwich on their menu that I think is pretty tasty.

It was very good. Kind of a pita sandwich meats a steak sandwich meets a philly cheesesteak. However, I haven't seen it on the menu there in quite a while.

The menu says chopped steak; that sounds like hamburger to me, not a steak.

It's strips of steak, not a whole steak, but it's definitely not hamburger. It used to be the Friday lunch special but they now serve it at lunch every day.

Foodheads has a sirloin steak sandwich for $8.25 on their menu. I'm still trying to head over there and haven't tasted their sandwiches yet. I've heard we should all steer clear of the soups but that some of their specialty sandwiches are fantastic. If you try it, let us know how it is!

I heard mention of the steak sandwich at Moody's Cafe (Leander) being very good. I've never been, though.

Thanks, I'll have to give them a try. Unfortunately I didn't see a steak sandwich on their menu online.

I think it must be the prime rib sandwich on the dinner menu...
