Any suggestions? Granada Hills seems to be a restaurant wasteland but I'm hopeful that the hounds have found something that I've missed. Atmosphere not so important, but must be clean and friendly and not too noisy. Nothing spicy, but tasty and interesting (though not too interesting--it's my mom). Moderately priced is good. Thanks!

Took my mom to A&W Seafood in Reseda (not too far) for great chinese food. They also have dim sum on the weekends. There are 3 restaurants by that name, you want the large one on Reseda Blvd. (check the boards for more info)

There's always Brents deli in Northridge.

Actually the A&W you want is in Northridge on Reseda Blvd & Prarie next to CSUN. Very good Hong Kong style seafood and dim sum every day until around 2 pm.

If you'd rather have Italian I recommend Alessio on Reseda Blvd north of Plummer in the same plaza as Coco's and Kabuki Sushi. Very good Italian, all the pastas are very good, nice wines. Atmosphere & service are very good also.

There's the Olympic restaurant at Zelzah and Chatsworth (pretty good), as well as another mediterranean style (Greco's? - even better) in the shopping center where Whole Foods is at Rinaldi and Tampa. Also Musashi for Teppan-style grill food and sushi in the Porter Ranch complex at Corbin and Rinaldi. There's also a buffet now at Good Earth on Nordhoff, haven't been there in years though... anyone try it? There's the LA Buffet across from that (next to the Toyota dealer) which isn't bad, sushi, Mongolian BBQ and assorted Chinese-style (salmon, crab, octopi, chicken, dumplings, etc.), for under $10 for lunch.

And of course there's Brent's Deli on Parthenia near Corbin.

I think you mean Cafe Graikos at Tampa & Rinaldi. If you want Greek I would recommend Alexis Cafe on Tampa & Nordhoff (southeast corner in the plaza where Chi Chi's is), it's much better.

Also by all means skip the buffet at Good Earth, it's awful.

Have you tried searching the boards for the Northridge, Granada Hills, Chatsworth area? You'll find quite a few suggestions, some of which haven't come up yet.

One place I like in the area that hasn't gotten much attention is a homestyle Japanese near CSUN, specializing in curry but featuring noodles as well as other items. The cold summer ramen noodle salad, or hiyashi chukka, might not be too odd. My somewhat adventurous mom (thai yes, sushi no) enjoyed it when I took her there recently. The place is clean (of course) and friendly- the proprietor is a Japanese running enthusiast with an amazing grey braided goatee. It's basically like eating in a home kitchen, though with less Japanese tchochkes than in some establishments of a similar style. FYI, it's on the second floor, and is elevator-accessible.
