The New O Dae San

It's the same owner, but O Dae San has turned from a Korean sushi place to an upscale Korean BBQ. It reopened with a new concept about a month ago. The kal bi and kal bi jim quality is amazing. The water kim chee and fish cake panchan is also outstanding. Everything else is OK, but I was impressed by both the quality and quantity of meat. Unlike most of my Korean in-laws, I liked it better than Chosan Galbi. They liked the quality of the meat at O Dae San as well, but they enjoy the marinade at Chosan better. The staff seems to be almost brand new, so they are working out the kinks in service. Has anyone else gone, and what is your opinion?

      We need more al bap in L.A., not more KBBQs!

        If ODS has stopped serving al bap then that truly is a tragedy.

        No where (at least, no where that I am aware of) comes close to the al bap at ODS.

          I was there once and not as good as O Dae San and I had the HWE Du Bap.. Would love to know whom has a good HWE??

            Sorry, I didn't have al bap. I'll ask my in-laws about it, but I rather enjoy the Japanese chirashi style dishes more.

              A Won is good for what it is, but to say that it's al bap is a good substitute for ODS is just not right.

                O Dae San is selling their special Kal Bi for $16.99 . It's on sale for the near future. It's pretty good there. My family tends to enjoy Cho Sun Galbi better. We haven't tried Park's yet. But O Dae San's Kal Bi is very good, and for the price, it's definitely worth the trip.

            It was a sad day when I drove there and it was closed. The al bap was so fantastic. It was one of my all time favorite things to eat. And it was beautiful to look at. I also love BBQ, but there are already so many choices.
