Restaurant Suggestions for Anniversary Dinner
My husband and I are celebrating our first wedding anniversary in a week and we are planning on spending the night in Chicago and going to dinner. Any suggestions for a good place to go for an anniversary dinner that isn't super expensive?
First of all, congrats on the anniversary.
A few more details would be helpful.
Will you be staying in the downtown or Michigan Avenue area or somewhere else?
Is it ok to taxi somewhere or do you want to walk or take public transportation?
Are you looking for great food, romantic atmosphere or something else?
Any types of food you especially like or want to avoid?
"Super-expensive" can mean different things to different people. Is there a price range you and hubby are comfortable with?

We haven't decided where we're staying yet, so we are fine with taking a taxi. Looking for great food a romantic atmosphere would be nice but not absolutely necessary. We're probably leaning towards either a steakhouse, italian or seafood about $75 per person

Naha is a great idea, but here are some others:
For Italian:
Coco Pazzo
Spiaggia Cafe
Seafood:
There's Shaw's Crab House, but I can't in good conscience call it romantic.
Catch 35 is nice.
Steakhouse:
Not sure you can do it for $75/person, even without alcohol. Most of the steak places (e.g. Gibson's; Capital Grille, Keefer's) charge upwards of $35 for a steak and everything else is a la carte.
Or wander into the neighborhoods:
Spring or Takashi in Bucktown/Wicker Park might fit the bill perfectly.

You might be able to do steak within your budget at the Saloon Steakhouse or its adjacent lounge, but it would be tight. The ambiance is not terrible -- certainly not like a "Saloon" -- but I'd still hesitate to call it romantic. It does, however, have very good steak -- better, in my opinion, than many of the more well-known steakhouses in Chicago and at a more modest price.

I Would recommend Boka--
We had my wife's birthday dinner there last year, and it was fantastic. The servers were very nice.
I think you could probably get a 2-3 course meal in the neighborhood of 75$ per person, presuming you are not planning on spending a large amount on wine.
Good Luck

May Street Market is my favorite restaurant in the city. Check it out.

My suggestion would be North Pond where my wife and I just had a sensational evening celebrating our 41st anniversary. The location is spectacular as was the food and service. Here is their web site: http://www.northpondrestaurant.com/in...
I also recommend Boka as someone has already mentioned. Their food is also outstanding as well as the service. Good luck.
