Village Bake Shop, Ballston Spa

Hey, it's pretty good! Guy named Cory has opened Village Bakery on Front Street in Ballston Spa, baking a nice range of sweets; scones, bearclaws, crumb cakes, rugelach; everything we've tasted gets the nod. Tables to sit with coffee. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays, I think.

Well I bought I birthday cake there for my daughter saturday and it was so dry. No one ate it. I had to throw it away. Ruined the party. The worst cake I ever tasted in my life.

It would be great to have a good bakery so close. I did a "look see" about a month ago. To be fair wasn't impressed enough to do a taste test. I'll stick to Villa Italia until more reports are in.

New Italian bakery on Rt. 9 in Clifton Park; smells great, few things we sampled tasted fine. Cannoli to order. It's in the strip mall at 1601 Rt. 9, can't find a webpage or Places listing. Closes at 5.

Thanks, PSZaas. Thanks for the Village Bake Shop report and what were your top 1-2 favorite tries?

My wife enjoys the linzer tarts; they make a good almond-paste cookie, too, that I enjoy. Just a neighborhood bakery, in my neighborhood. Not as good as Bella Napoli, Villa Italia, Mrs. London's, lots of other places, but I like to support the nabe.

Just heard about it today from a foodie friend from Ballston Spa. She thought he may have worked previously at Bella Napoli, which would be a good recommendation.

I dunno. He has another store in Clifton Park, but I haven't visited it yet.
