Breakfast Near Back Bay Station

Any suggestions for leisurely breakfast tomorrow (Sunday) at 9 a.m. near Back Bay Station. Gotta make the 11:10 train.

Well this rec will be too late but I used to love the brunch at Firefly's

Mrs. B and I had brunch at Firefly's about a year or so ago, and it was arguably the worst we'd ever had, complete with veggies that should have been in the compost heap instead of on someone's plate -- and management seemed unconcerned about this when spoken to about it.

I have to agree. While my brunch there wasn't the worst I've ever had, I certainly won't be going back. I just remember going in with low/no expectations and still being underwhelmed.

Brownstone used to do breakfast. I haven't been there in awhile so perhaps they're still doing it. It's right down the st. from Back Bay Station (on Dartmouth and Columbus next to Clerys).

Charlie's Sandwich Shop on Columbus, the turkey hash is absolutely one of my favorite things in the city. Old school charm and great food.

I used to love Charile's turkey hash, and folks keep raving about it here, so I got it again the other day, and I still have to say: it's all potatoes now, no discernible turkey flavor, a big letdown from how it used to be, say, ten years ago. Still a good breakfast place, a lot of old-timey charm, but very pricey for diner food.

I love Charlie's and when I'm craving french toast, there's no where I'd rather go, but I do agree it's a bit pricey for diner food. Breakfast for two almost always runs $20++, even when you order the most basic items. Even still, when I can make it there for breakfast, I'm always happy, and if I have to pay a few more bucks for the privilege, it's worth it!
