Vernon experiences

The good news first - Vernon actually has some quite good restaurants. The bad - all the chain have moved in, making it hard for the independents. We had the best Mexican food I've had in Canada in a little place on main street (known to the locals as Barnard or 30th Ave.) Unfortunately, I can not recall or search the name. It was something like El Hubio. Food was amazing. Started with homemade salsa and chips. I had the special - enchiladas with a chipotle cream sauce and my son had chicken quesidillas which were so flavourful. The sangria was good too. On Saturday nights, there is a three piece band which rocks the small space.

We also returned to an old favourte KT's, which is right across the street from the Mexican place. It is showing its age, but they still turn out hand-made pizzas that are very, very good.

We went to the farmers' market and it is so good. The range of local foods is astounding. One could actually have an interesting time on a 100 mile diet in the valley.
