Bars in Malibu/SaMo/Beachside

Emergency help needed, y'all... I want to take my lady out for some drinks tonight somewhere near the ocean. Searches for "bar" or "nightlife" aren't being that helpful... She's not much of a drinker, so we just need a place that's got a nice hangout vibe.

Was thinking about the Malibu Inn, but I've lived on the west side for years & years and haven't been there since the '90s... Has the vibe changed a lot? Is there another low-key place to get a drink and listen to the ocean that doesn't involve the miserable G***stones?

A bit of a nicer option but certainly a fun crowd The Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel. Many people are opposed because it changed from a casual hang out spot into a beautiful decor and design bar, lounge and restaurant. So it isn't quite beachy being that it is the 20th story of the hotel and on 2nd street rather than say PCH but I am a big fan of it.

Since you aren't eating this is the perfect opportunity to go to Gladstone's and sit outside. Where Sunset T's in the PCH.

Moonshadows or Charthouse. With the Chili Cook-off tonight and all weekend, Duke's will be a nightmare (so will traffic), so I wouldn't go further north than Moonshadows.

how about Duke's Malibu? they have a barefoot bar that is fun maybe crowded. Or Moonshadows?

I'll probably head there unless there's some other cool place to get a drink oceanside... it's been a long time since I've headed out that way, and my sense of the coast appears to have atrophied.
