BOE@324, White Plains closes...

After a short run, BOE@324 on Central Ave., White Plains, has called it quits...word is it will be replaced by a Spanish/Mediterranean restaurant.

What a shame. They poured a ton of money in to this place. The downstairs wine cellar room was monumental. Guess even when you have money to burn, if the food ain't great, customers won't take the bait.

I'm not surprised. I was there about three months ago and the barmaid was trying to hide in the corner of the bar by a curtain smoking and ignoring the bar patrons.

About a month ago, I was there on a Saturday for dinner and the place was fairly empty at 8:00 and we still had to wait a half hour for a table. The bartender told us that the restaurant turns into a nightclub after 11:00 and they were trying to attract an older crowd but so far were only getting 20 plus year olds. You can't be a sophisticated restaruant and a bar..

The major concensus was food just ok and the prices much too high to deal with "just ok".

When are restaurants going to get it?
