Good Chow on I-40 from Memphis to Asheville?

Hello!

My husband and I are driving from Memphis to Asheville this weekend on I-40 and looking for a place to eat lunch. We like most any food and are willing to go off the beaten path for a good local find. Can you offer some suggestions? Thanks!

Check out the Tomato Head in Knoxville. Just off the interstate in the historic Market Square.

Puleo's has been covered on other posts. YOu have 3 chances-at an exit in Cookevill, at the Cedar Bluff exit in Knoxville on at the Strawberry Plains exit east of Knoxville. Puleo's is chef owned and described as a combination of southern and Italian. I have never had a bad experience. Oddly his choice of locating at interstate exits seems to work for him. Great grits with tasso gravy, lasagna, turkey and dressing. Every eclectic menu and truly delicious.
