Chenin Blanc - End of summer meal

Hello all!

I've got a Chenin Blanc that I want to drink this weekend as part of an end-of summer celebration. I'd like to build my menu around this wine. Any food pairing suggestions? I'd appreciate recs for specific dishes, and/or good base ingredients and flavors that you think will work well.

And, just in case we happen to finish the Chenin Blanc before the meal is over, I'd love to know what you're drinking in our last few days of summer. And what are you eating with these wines?

  1. Details on the wine? Producer? Region? Dry? Off-dry? Sweet? I mention all of that because chenin grapes are used to make all those styles of wine in the Loire Valley. But you won't see the words "chenin blanc" on the label at all. If they are on your label, my guess is the wine is from California or South Africa. If the latter, the wine can also be dry, off-dry, or sweet.

    So... Not knowing any of that detail, my blind recommendation would be to pair the wine with salad and with mild soft cheeses.

      It's from L'Ecole No 41, a Washington state producer. It's a pretty bright wine, with some peach and citrus as far as I can tell.

          One dish we've enjoyed with this particular Chenin Blanc is a Greek Eggplant Salad with Feta and Kalamata Olives.

      1. Fresh or mild sof-ripened chevre is a good place to start.
