Salmon and Tomato dish

daves_32 Aug 27, 2008 04:35 AM

Need a recommendation for a craving I am having today.
Looking for a dinner to grab a solo spot at the bar. My craving is the best in the area cured salmon and market fresh tomato dish. I would like it in NoVA or DC.
Please help!

Palena has had a heirloom gazpacho with salmon and squid on the menu recently.

You mean cream cheese, lox, and bagel with a slice of fresh tomato, hold the bagel and cream cheese? Or is this a particular dish you're thinking of (and I've never heard of)?

If I wanted that, I'd probably go to a fancy grocery store like Whole Foods or Balducci's, where they sell a variety of cured salmons and this time of year have good tasting tomatoes, and an eating area. Bring your own knife to slice the tomato.

I was talking about it separately...
ie: Vidalia had a dish during the RW menu which was to die for! It was cucumber soup around a stack of citrus cured salmon.
As for the tomato, anything nice with heirloom tomato flavors would be great for me.
