Cameron's Meats closed

I drove to my local Cameron's Meats in Crestwood Mall today to find a sign on the store saying that both locations have closed to due circumstances out of their control and that they hope to be able to reopen (not soon, just reopen).

I am sad! Does anyone have the inside scoop?

I know a while back they had a malfunction with their freezer unit (the power went out), so they lost a lot of product and weren't sure whether or not insurance would cover it. I wonder if they were not able to come back from that loss?

With Brothers and now Camerons closed, does anyone have recommendations for a good place in Edmonton for meat?

When I lived on the southside I used to occasionally buy meat from Acme Butchers in the Richie neighbourhood. They are still around as I saw the owner featured in either the Journal or Sun earlier in the week.

They were in a little strip mall south of Whyte just east of one of the bridges that spans Mill Creek.

there is a place on stoney plain & 158street (ish) that I have not tried yet, but will be heading there eventually with Cameron's closed. I believe the name is Ben's.

has anyone tried it?
