northwestern RI, a couple of good places...
I went to both of these recently and can definitely recommend.
The first is Bolie's Chowder Shack on Main St in Pascoag (Pascoag is not the 1st village you come to on East Ave, that's Harrisville....Pascoag is 5-7 minutes down the road, near Bridigo's). We just had clam cakes & chowder (both excellent) but were told the fish & chips were excellent, so I think that bodes well for the rest of his lengthy seafood menu (tons of specials). Really cute inside.
The other is Casa Fernandes in Burrillville (Spring Lake Rd). The place is a bit cavernous (loud, echo-y, ceiling fans spinning madly) but clean and nice, w/a big stone fireplace I assume they use in winter. The menu is large, simple food w/a bit of an Italian emphasis. My mom had lasagna which she loved. I had eggplant parm w/ziti....their red sauce is excellent....light, bright red, very tasty. Most entrees come in small & large, I ordered the small and took some pasta home. It cost - get this - $4.75. We'll definitely be back (they have a full bar)
