Bar Style Pizza
Went to visit my parents this weekend and they had some leftovers from Poopsie's that I thoroughly enjoyed. I had forgotten how much I liked that little cheddar bite in this type of pizza. Are there any places that serve this style in the West Roxbury/Roslindale area?
My go to's are The Pleasant Cafe and Tony's but I want that cheddar taste and I want it between the two cardboard trays wrapped in a brown paprer bag. Aside from the Lynwood is there anything close?

Can't think of any in WR or Rozzie, but there are some that aren't too far away....
Believe it or not, Doyle's in JP has a decent bar pizza. Not the best I've had by a long shot, but it's really not bad, IMO.
Woody's in the Fenway area also has a really good bar pizza, though that's a bit of a haul from WR/Rozzie.
If you don't mind driving over to Quincy, the Alumni and Cronin's both have excellent bar pizzas.

I had Doyle's many years ago. I remember it good Italian, but not bar style.

No, they definitely have individual bar pizzas at Doyle's now. I've gotten them several times. They are about 10 inches in diameter and are pan pizzas. Perhaps they have both kinds of pizza there? I'll have to check the menu again...

The Halfway Cafe in Dedham is pretty close, and serves that style.

There is no bar pizza quite like Poopsies. I started this thread a few weeks ago looking for something like it but nobody seems to familiar with Poopsies.

Have you tried the Satuit Tavern in Scituate? It's not as dark and as Poopsies in fact it very bright in side. Across form pier 44 and rumor is they have Poopsies recipe...they taste very similar.
I can't vouch for the other locations but Scituate TK O'Malley's makes a pretty good bar pizza too.

Never been to the Satuit Tavern. And quite frankly, the idea of eating bar pizza in a place that is not dark, old, and somewhat creepy is foreign to me. But nontheless, I'll have to give it a shot someday after a round at Widow's.

I agree. When it comes to bar pizza, the less light inside the place, the better. It should be dark and dingy, with hockey fights on TV, barstools with people's names on them (as itaunas mentioned when talking about La Hacienda in Somerville, chuckle), and a cold bottle of beer situated directly to the right of the bar pie. The Alumni Cafe in Quincy, La Hacienda, the New Brown Jug in Chelsea, and Monte's in Lynn (the bar side) are good examples of this, IMO...

Poopsies is dark but it is not surley. More of a time warp than anything. Looks more menacing than it is in reality.

You have to try the Satuit's pizza if your in the area, please report back!

Most of the places I mentioned look more menacing than they are, too. For instance, La Hacienda looks positively scary from the outside, but it's actually a rather friendly place.

Hiddenboston is perhaps the #1 expert on this topic, so listen to him.
A rec for the West Rox OP might be The Dogwood Cafe across from the Forest Hills T station.
No, not "bar pizza" in the strictest terms I suppose, but quite good. Just order it well-done and I think you'll be happy.
Or, you can just pick up a pie at the Greek pizzera right on the corner there, then bring it into the Fireside Tavern.
Bar.
Pizza.
Bar pizza.

I still think the Lynwood in Randolph is the ne plus ultra of this style of pie.
