Fellow Hounds on the Coast, please save my SO from the chains. He is doing testing with a group of engineers at the Pitt Meadows Airport all week and will be needing to find dinner each night. Tonight looks like Cactus Club on Schoolhouse (eep) but with your help they can do better for the next four nights.

So far my sleuthing has netted the following possibilities:
Firehall Bistro (this place sounds the most promising)
Jersey Joe's
Jolly Coachman
Pad Thai (if the tamer palates allow)
Akasaka (ditto)

Please advise on any of the above or any other places you like, bearing in mind the need to find restos that appeal to a somewhat tame palate (the other guys', not his!) TIA

Yikes, that's a tough question. The only non-chain that I can think of is Deer Garden, on Westwood, a couple blocks north of Lougheed. It's Chinese, so might not meet the tame palate requirement. Their noodles, wonton, etc. aren't bad. Their curried beef brisket's good. Good luck!

How about Insadong and Blue Sea (recently reviewed by jay_kay) for Korean? Bulgogi and Kal Bee are safe bets for the unadventurous - just tell them they are "Maui Ribs" or something.

I noticed these recs for Korean and I have captured them but I fear the non-adventurous among the Group of Seven Engineers will veto :-(. If I was actually there myself I would browbeat but the SO is not a food dictator as I am! Deer Garden might be an option. I will add it... Thanks im and fmed.

Anyone else with ideas or comments on the original list??
