In France I encountered Korean BBQ restaurants that brought out a tabletop grill fired by a propane gas canister, on which we cooked our own food. I haven't been able to find one in the US. Any hints? These are integrated units that have a nice flat cast iron grilling surface with the replaceable propane canister generating high heat.

Have you visited your local Korean grocery store? They definitely have electric models there, and I do believe I've seen the propane models too. (Of course, this is in L.A.)

You don't want to use a propane grill of any kind indoors without proper ventilation. The portable indoor burners use safer butane as their fuel.

I did check the local groceries. They sold a butane (sorry, not propane) single burner with a cast iron grill to lay over it. The ones in France were much nicer: the replaceable can of fuel slips into the grill with gas controls on the front.
