hey all...

i searched on this topic but found no direct comparison. i found plenty of favorable opinions on both, but if it were between the two, which would you choose? ( i know that there is no connection between the two restaurants)

craving fried clams for lunch today so trying to make the decision between quincy (closer in proximity) and ipswich (has the white farms ice cream bonus).

Ipswich if you can swing the time and travel considerations.

Agreed - Barmy and I are fans of both venues, but all other factors being equal I would absolutely choose Ipswich.

My comments would mirror Joanie & Allstonian's exactly.
It's a little unfair to the Quincy CB matching them in a popularity poll, however, IMO.
There will be far more Hounds likely to post in favor of Ipswich's CB because it has been and is a Foodie destination of long standing and rightfully so. Consequently, it gets all the press from Chronicle to TV Diner and The Phantom Gourmet. I don't mean to slight the people in the Quincy camp but it just isn't a fair fight.

That's ok. It just means that those of us from Quincy will have less lines when we go to the Clam Box.

And I thought people generally preferred Tony's, no?

I certainly do. Clam Box is good option when you have a fried clam hankering too, but I do prefer Tony's.

Yes, I definitely go to Tony's more often. I didn't bring it up though since it seemed like the discussion was going Clam Box vs Clam Box, and I do frequent both.

              That's okay Pegmeister,
And with the SS having so far fewer full belly quality options than the NS we'll only stop by when in the area. We've got more than enough other destinations worth driving to up here on the NS when "the real" CB is jammed. As opposed to; Tony's or CB, Tony's or CB, or CB or Tony's? :-)

Made the trip to Ipswich and it was great despite the long wait... both the fried clams and the coleslaw. Definitely lived up to the hype. Hoping to squeeze in Tony's one day as well... thanks for the tips : )

As far as I'm concerned, White Farms alone is enough of a reason to tip the scales in favor of the Ipswich Clam box. We stopped there for ice cream this past weekend --my first time ---and enjoyed probably the best hard frozen yogurt I've ever tasted --mint chocolate chip, flavorful, delicious --really really good. Can't comment abt the Ipswich vs Quincy clams...but the ice cream --amazing.

I have never been to the Quincy place, but you have to pick Ipswich for White Farms if for nothing else. Love that place. AND its almost pumpkin ice cream time! My favorite time of the year. Mmmmmm, pumpkin hot fudge sundaes at White's.... drool.

I also would go to White farms anytime. If you want pizza...the pizza next to white farms...same building is good.
