We're currently filling out our son's baby book. He was born in mid-2005 (yeah, we're a bit behind) and for the life of us we can't remember what the hot 'food trends' of the year were. Does anyone know where we could find out what was popular then? Thanks

Cupcakes?
If they don't have to be unique to 2005, and it's meant to describe the period, then sustainable organic foods, artisinal small batch brands, chemical chefs, retro cocktails, and baked goods, exotic variations in ingredients, truffle oil, cracked eggs on top of things, fresh mozzerella pizzas, burgers, and pork dishes all come to mind.

Cupcakes is definitely a good one, that was the height of the cupcake craze.

Sideways came out in 2004 and I think in 2005 it was still making Pinot Noir popular.

It was around then that low-carb began losing steam, the good fats vs. bad fats became popular, cereal restaurants started popping up, cold sake was served in abundance, gourmet packaged soups were new and the thing, and thats all I got this early=)
