My husband and I ate there a few weeks ago and enjoyed everything. The service was excellent. In fact, the server was able to speak to the wine list and help us make a choice based on what we like - and we loved what we picked (can't remember the name, but was local). I had the Butter Lettuce salad which I enjoyed, except for the apricots. Maybe personal taste, but didn't really add much flavor to the mix. Husband had the Three Tomato Salad which was excellent! We can't remember exactly what my husband had (we're getting old...), but was a steak which he really enjoyed. I had a item from the specials - was a Mediterranean Bass (can't remember the name - something I had not heard of before) which was excellent. We didn't have dessert, but had coffee which was good! We enjoyed the food; sat outside and while they had bug spray on the table we didn't need; can't say enough about the service. We will definitely go again, and have already recommended to friends.

Just ate there.....I loved it. I had been wanting to try this place since before it opened, but didn't have a chance...partly, most of the time I'm out here in the summer without a car....my kids have the cars, and they're busy.....also, we were big fans of the Red Door, and my kids were very upset about its passing....that said, today's NY Times review (and my son's being out here) was the clincher. I'm not sure any of us like it better than the Red Door...but we still enjoyed it a great deal. Yes, the service is excellent....very friendly, they really make you feel welcome (we arrived at 9:00, and closed the place out...). We were invited to look all over the place while we waited for our table....they really wanted to show off their new pizza oven.........OK...my wife and 2 of the kids wanted pizza...the taste I had impressed me...I am not fond of "restaurant" pizza's, ordinarily..but this had great crust and flavor. My youngest son had a gnocchi special, with veal sausage and broccoli rabe...I tasted the sausage, which tasted good to me. We argued over the salad..I wanted treviso, my daughter wanted (and got) the butter lettuce and peach salad....not my style, but I enjoyed it. I parried with the grilled octopus and white bean salad..tasted great, but the octopus was too soft for me...I like it much chewier...and it was only 1 small tentacle. My dish was the grilled scallops....aside from loving scallops, for me its a great restaurant "tester"...if they are not superbly fresh you know it! Also, while I am not a fan of rare seafood (for me its either raw or cooked, nothing in between), I love scallops no matter what their degree of doneness...and these were perfect....yes, medium rare, but great flavor...the risotto they came with was a touch too lemony, buts that my taste, not their fault. desserts were great...I had the chocolate bag...couldn't finish everything, but it was great. Drinks- good sized martini, tasted the way I wanted...can't complain! Had 2 glasses of Martha Clara 5-0....decent size, shared with my wife (I'm the only drinker...my oldest son couldn't make it). So...my opinion? Well, I'm no critic or foody....I just know what I like. Is it better than the Red Door (its predecessor)? I don't know...but its easily as good, and certainly less expensive. Its a great addition to the North Fork (we still mourn the Wild Goose...perhaps among the few here who do...) Can't afford the North Fork Table and Inn with a family my size.....Is it really "Excellent"? Can't say yet....I'll just have to go back to try more!
