you;ll be fairly convenient to both Squirrel Hill & Shadyside, which is good. as well, Craig St. b/w Fifth & Forbes has some options. on Murray Ave. in Sq Hill I like Zaw's Asian but takeout only, Mineo's Pizza is a Pgh classic. Sweet Basil is mostly Thai with a some influence from the Phillipines. Alladins is a decent Middle Eastern local chain, out of western Ohio. in Shadyside I encourage people to try Girasole italian the Mulberry St Gelato for dessert. Both Sq Hill & Shadyside have a Coffee Tree Roasters. further away from CMU is a new fusion neighborhood referred to as Eastside, home of our Whole Foods. This area has Ethiopian, Abay as well as a new upscale Chinese, Richard Chen. look into www.bigburito.com the closest would be Mad Mex in Oakland.

for lunch there are a bunch of lunch trucks on campus, I don't know the name of the street but I'm sure anyone would be able to point you in the right direction. There's a little red trailer at the end of the line that sells indian, I think it's Sree's, and for $4.50 you get a really nice lunch. I would stick with the veg. options as the chicken is just so so.

It would be easier if you specified a price range, cuisine, or had any input at all. CMU is pretty close to all kinds of things. Do you have a car? Do you want to explore as well, or just eat?

If you can get over to the South Side and Headwiches (BIG sandwiches) and good beer are your interest, then you want to try Fathead's on Carson Street.
