I imagine it is not the best ice cream in the world, as I have not tried everything, but I have to say that Starbuck's Java Chip is tops in my book. Smooth and creamy, it just tastes great.

DC hound Joe H. thinks he makes one of the great ice creams of the world, in a dead heat with his hyperbolic risotto making abilities. If you come to the picnic in Golden Gate Park on Oct. 4, you might have a chance to try it.

Shouldn't this go to General Topics or International by now?

Moving on...

Funny you should mention that. Berthillon's great. In fact, I recommended it to my little sis who's on her way there as I write this. Even told her that it was the best in Europe. But even that isn't quite accurate, IMHO. Melanie Wong's friend from D.C. (see below) might be right, at least in principle, because the best I've had was "homemade" from the owner of a restaurant in Nice. Can't recall the name right now. Somewhere in the old town. If I find out, I'll post to the international board. The guy claimed his pruneau was better than Berthillon, and damned if he wasn't right.

Her father and his wife go quite often, though.
