A friend is headed to Frankfurt soon and asked me to ask the experts here: Would anyone with recent knowledge care to give us a few ideas for good eating at a price range Michelin-level? Modern German or other European is fine.. Not looking for super trendy. Central location would be best... Many thanks!

  1. This place used to be the only Michelin star in Frankfurt - not sure if that's still true as I haven't been there in some time. It's called Tigerpalast. It's not easy finding fine cuisine in Frankfurt, but it's fun to get the feel of the city in a nice neighbourhood like Sachsenhausen.

Zuriga thanks. I now realize that my post should have read, ....at below Michelin level!!!" Not looking for luxury places, just excellent food iin a central location....sorry for the misprint!

Hard to find in Frankfurt, erica! Try Mikro at the Cocoon club but it is not that central, modern and fancy. A solid Italian place is Isoletta in the Westend, French-> La Cigale in Bockenheim, International -> Holbeins in Sachsenhausen. Or you could do some traditional Apfelwein (apple wine) in Sachsenhausen, e.g. Wagner...

    2. Well, it has not got any stars, but it is right on the Romer Platz and the food is good solid German. The location is the best part. Dine outdoors if at all possible. I eat here at least once each time I am in Frankfurt.

Thanks to both of you. To make things more clear, my friend is NOT looking for Michelin-starred places, just good local food in a pleasant setting within easy reach of the center..
