cheap byo tonight

hi,

we have some friends in their mid-twenties coming to visit tonight from chicago. they want to experiance the byo tradition they've heard so much about. however, to make matters slightly difficult - the prices have to be cheap (entrees no more than $20, perferably $15)and we need to be able to get a reservation for sometime after 7pm. la viola seems like it might be a good choice as does branzino - but i'm worried that they might feel a little stuffy for our friends - i'd love to take them to a place where they would see lots of people their own age(ish). apamate seemed appealing, but the menu isn't good for one of the pickier eaters in the group.

any help would be great!
thanks.

It's not super cheap, but sharing a bunch of apps or sticking with the veggie options is a cheaper way to go at Kanella at 10th and Spruce, here's the menupages page:

You can sit outside if you'd like and it shouldn't be tough to get a reservation for tonight.

I agree. The prices are towards the upper end of your range, but the food there is fantastic. The athenian pepper dish is $17 and is great.

La Locanda in Old City has a pretty fun atmosphere and nothing is over $20 but it is cash only. You have to call ahead if you are going to get a table. You leave a message on the answering machine with your time and then they call you back since they do not open until 3:30pm or so. I always take friends from out of town there which is your same age range.
