Need recs for a birthday dinner

Hi,

I live on the northshore, but don't get over to New Orleans often. I am taking my other half to Harrah's to the stay the night for her 60th b-day. I would like to take her to dinner someplace nice, but she is not a big dress-up person. She likes just about any type of food, but would prefer to enjoy it in a nice pair of jeans and a button down. Any recs for a good food, nice atmosphere that you don't have to be dressed fancy for???? Any help greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend La Boca, if she's a red meat fan. Rio Mar if her tastes run to seafood, or Cochon if she likes pork & southern cooking. Jeans and a nice shirt are acceptable at any of these places.

I guess I'm the third to say perfect recommendations HC.

I think you could probably get away with jeans and a nice shirt at Cafe Adelaide too, but my last meal there wasn't all that great. That was right after the chef change, so I'd imagine they've gotten back up to speed.

I too recommend Rio Mar. I also enjoy Grand Isle, which is a block or so away.

Right around the corner from your hotel are quite a few good restaurants: La Boca is an Argentine steakhouse, Tommy's Cuisine has seafood and Italian food, Rio Mar has Latin seafood, and Ruth Chris steakhouse is in your hotel. All of these options are truly great places.
