  1. Marcia(3) -- is this related to your previously-posted "Baltimore, one meal only" on a Sunday afternoon request? If so, I don't know if all of your above list are open on Sundays.

We Baltimoreans love our summer crabs, and we get LOTS of visiting ChowHounds asking about our local places. If you have the time please do yourself and us locals a favor and search this board for Obryckis and Bo Brooks. You'll get a fair amount of recent reviews, and with this knowledge you'll probably be able to reach your own conclusion based on your criteria.

I certainly read post after post, that is how I came up with these restaurants. ( mr. bill is closed sundays) so may opinions! I was hoping to get some responses and choose the resturant that had the most positives response. I figured those fellow chowhounds who would respond o my post would be happy to help out a visitor. I do return the favor when asked for a recommendation in my own city.

she's right, costas is the real thing, schultz's is cute and good too and less industrial

you are the best. I will be going to lexington market on sat. afternoon and costas on sunday. so little much to try!

          2. re: marciamarciamarcia

I just went to Mr. Bill's on a sunday 2 weeks ago.

he's right, mr bill open sunday and 50% better than costas

Plus, it's closer in town, and doesn't feel as though you're in terminal B of the Thurgood Marshall airport, which I think best describes the atmosphere at Costa's.

                Crab problem solved, yes?

BTW, while I think Schultz's is way cute in in that nautical and knotty pine kind of way, I haven't had good crabs or crabcakes there in years. (Although when I've taken non-natives there, they've loved it, but, then again, they don't know from crabs.)

                1. re: baltoellen

Keep in mind Mr. Bill's doesn't open until like 5PM.

                  1. re: baltoellen

i hate to ask you because you have been so kind but what about LP Steamers?

                    1. re: marciamarciamarcia

Great atmosphere but I have had some pretty bad crabs there.

          3. I like the black pepper based spice at Obrycki's and have never had a bad crab there. Others on the Board report otherwise. I haven't tryed Shultzes or Costas but would go for Obryki's over Al's or Bo's.

I was at Costa's last weekend. Amazing crabs. Much bigger than their size would have you thinking, and super fresh.

You may want to call ahead just to find out what sizes they have available. We got there at like noon, and they only had two dozen large left, but it didn't matter because we were getting Jumbos on that day. Phenomenal.

              1. re: hotel

I think Obryki's is overpriced and not very friendly. IMO Schultz's has the best seasoning (It's not Old Bay) but often a long wait, Mr Bill's has the best meaty crabs, but the seasoning is rather one dimensional. I'd still choose Mr Bill's.

            2. thank you for all your responses. we had a great weekend. lex. market and costas, even brought some home to share with the kid at home.
