Fried Green Tomatoes

A good southern girl, I'm in search of some really great fried green tomatoes. The last I had, at Georgia Brown's, were NOT good... any hot tips? THANKS!

Firestones Culinary Tavern in Frederick.

Was in on a Saturday last month and the wife ordered their crab cake "sandwich." The cake was sandwiched between two exceptional FGTs.

I just looked at the Yelp reviews for the fried green tomatoes at Market Lunch at Eastern Market - wow. Those are fabulous reviews. Will try to make it this weekend.

I'm also a fried green tomato junkie. Our favorites, in order, are: Restaurant 3 in Clarendon, Overwood in Alexandria, Eatonville in DC, and Lightfoot Restaurant in Leesburg, VA. Also, Arlington Rooftop in Arlington, VA has them, but they've been kind of iffy there - sometimes using red tomatoes! Circa Bistro has a pretty good "tex-mex" version on their current menu. Now sure how long they'll last,

This was a while ago (probably 1-2 years) but I remember the fried green tomatoes at B.Smiths being quite tasty...

I went for the extended restaurant week at Circle Bistro on Wednesday night. For a first course they are offering fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp in a remoulade sauce and mache. Three large slices of fried green tomato and the shrimp were really fresh and sweet. Great dish. Huge portion.

The fried green tomatoes at Southside 815 in Old Town are $4.50....I was in the mood to split some wings last night when I ate there, but I think I'm going to have to try them for that price!!

I had some ridiculously good fried green tomatoes last night at Circle Bistro that were topped with shrimp.

They were on the menu at the Narrows Monday night as one of the available sides. I dipped them in the tasty tartar sauce that came with the crab cakes. Dee-licious! Exit 41 at Kent Narrows heading easterly.

I had the green tomatoes with shrimp at circle bistro and they were awesome. I think i also may have had the best soft shell of this season here too.

I like the rendition at the Narrows in Kent Narrows, just off Route 50 on the other side of the Bay Bridge. And others on this board rave about their crab cakes!
