Working Class Mexican in Corona

I'm leading a group of industrial archaeologists through the "Willets Pt" area later this fall. There are many newish working class Mexican (and other) joints along Roosevelt Avenue west of Shea Stadium. Are any exceptional in food, drink or ambience for gringos?

  1. Take a look at the Google Map of Street Food in Eastern Jackson Heights post. Industrial archaeologists? That sounds interesting enough. If you want a sit down place then go to Taqueria Coatzingo, but the Mexican, Ecuadorian, and Colombian stalls should provide loads of food as you walk in towards JH proper after Willets Point.

    1. I don't know any in willets point. I wouldnt want to touch food after a few minutes in that third-world country.
BUT, west when you get into Corona, you have a lot of great restaurants. Taqueria coatzingo is an excellent and very gringo friendly restaurant. The food carts are where you can get some very authentic food.

I would recommend checking out the book - Nueva York by kugel and gonzalez.

two places on my places to go list from corona are: Tipico Dominicano for their chicharonnes and
La Cabana Antojitos Dominicanos for quippes, pastelitos, and empanadas de catibia

If you want Italian heroes and other food - you cannot beat Leo's Latticini or Mama's. Best BEst Best
