Franny's Wait on a thursday night

Hey everyone, I'm looking to meet with my inlaws (who will be in southern Brooklyn) at kind of a midway point to us (Washington heights, Manhattan). I figured this would be a good chance to meet up at park slope and go to Franny's, since I've wanted to try it for a while now.

I'm a bit worried though, since they don't take reservations I've heard the wait can be pretty long, so I was wondering about what the wait is like on thursday nights? I'd be willing to wait for a while, but I'm not sure if my fellow diners would be that interested in waiting for local seasonal italian food :).

Thanks for your help!

  1. With the weather being so nice there is a good chance you'll have a bit of a wait. Your definition of 'a while' and that of your In-Laws might, and probably is, somewhat different. You might be better off choosing a place that willl accept a reservation.

    1. Hmmm... it's late August -- that makes it a sleepy week for restaurants. (Though even sleepier on Friday than Thursday.)

Any chance you could meet Thursday?

Alternatively, have a backup in mind. Maybe Convivium Osteria? Great food and a very, very nice garden. And they take reservations.

Having done both of these restaurants recently, I would strongly consider Convivium Osterio, where I found the food to be superior to Franny's. They take reservations, but make sure you bring plenty of cash, since they only accept American Express.
