East Midtown Mojitos???

eateryrow Aug 21, 2008 08:25 AM

I think the title says it all. Where can I go and get a good Mojito in east midtown? Good apps won't hurt either. Thanks!

Dos Caminos is always a good Mexican option. They have great mojitos and tableside guacamole that is very good. I go here often after work with colleagues. They have outdoor seating too, which is nice during the warmer fall days. It is on 3rd and 53rd.

I ended up choosing Sofrito. I have to be honest... I wasn't terribly thrilled with their mojitology.

Dos Caminos isn't bad. And you can sit outside if you're lucky or willing to wait.

I've lunched at Cabana on 60th and 3rd; their mojitos are good, and they have a number of cuban/caribbean app options.

I recently discovered a great place to get drinks that I would have never tried unless I wasn't asked to go there for a work function. It's called Studio 100 and it is on the 3rd floor of the Residence Inn by Marriott on 6th Ave btw. 38th & 39th (not midtown east). They make really really good mojito and other tasty "specialty" cocktails. The bartender was way into talking about her cocktail menu, as well as the ingredients in some of the drinks. The food is not exciting by any means, but it doesn't taste awful (fried shrimp, nachos, a boring cheese plate, etc). They even have a pool table, and it's a great place to go if you want to escape the crowds, very chill.

            Avg $ for a specialty cocktail: $14

              Pompano - 49th btwn 2nd & 3rd
Sofrito- 57th between 1st and sutton
              Maya - 1191 1st ave (btwn 64th & 65th )
(although I REALLY hate to say Tao; their mojitos are delish).
