Irish Pub/Restaurant in St. Paul?

I wonder if anyone has good knowledge of authentic Irish food in St. Paul. Been to the Local in downtown Mpls. Supposedly St. Paul has a bigger Irish population than its neighbor.

  1. Authentic.....hmmmmmm

The Liffey is owned by the same folks as the Local. That's probably the most chowish option. It is in a Holiday Inn which always rubs me the wrong way.

Shamrocks (the Irish Nook) is mainly bar grub. Nothing truly Irish about it - except lots of beer!

Patrick McGoverns has really good turkey sandwiches - again, doesn't seem super Irish except for the beer...... & decor & name. (note - full disclosure - its been years since I've eaten there)

Don't forget O'Gara's and the Hometown Rec.

Oh yeah - again I don't know if I'll call anything authentic for food - everything is bar food.....

        And costellos as well.

You are right. I never thought of them as an authentic Irish like the places that try to replicate Ireland but you sure can feel Irish.
