Barrington's in Charlotte

  • 9

Has anyone eaten at Barrington's recently, and is it worth searching out? We will be in Charlotte next month and want to go to one special restaurant. Thanks.

  1. I have not been yet, but hear nothing but raves from all. I am pleased to hear they will be opening a 2nd location on Montford Drive soon. This is very close to home for me so I am thrilled.

As reported by Helen Schwab, Restaurant Writer of the Charlotte Observer
Bruce Moffett, chef-owner of the much-acclaimed Barrington's restaurant, has signed a lease for space near Park Road Shopping Center, where he plans a restaurant specializing in small plates, emphasizing local products.
Plans call for the place to open at 1701 Montford Drive by the end of November. Moffett's younger brother Kerry, who has cooked with him at Barrington's for the last eight years, will be part-owner and head chef....
Pretty cool ha? I predict Montford will be a true restaurant row in the future. First Andrew Blairs and now Barrington's. They already have Louisa's brick oven Pizza so who will be next?

Can't recall if it's still there, but there used to be a Godfather's Pizza. Hey...wait a minute!

Godfather's Pizza is a chain so you know this godfather wants no part of it. White bread pizza - Yeech.

Barrington's is my absolute favorite restaurant in Charlotte.
Oh man! Now I wanna go!
          (I'm so impressionable!)

        2. I visited there with my fiancée a few weeks ago and was really disappointed. We were visiting Charlotte for the weekend and were drawn by some favorable reviews and the 29 food rating from zagat. We had high hopes; however the food did not measure up. In NYC the food would be somewhere around a 17 or an 18. The corn chowder, pork, and several dishes were acceptable; but not worthy of acclaim. On the other hand, the foie gras was a disaster, overcooked and inedible. The pasta with mushrooms was made with what appeared to be poorly rehydrated mushrooms and was just plain bad. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other restaurants in charlotte to recommend...
