Los Gatos Rehearsal Dinner and Brunch

I am planning a wedding at Nestldown in Los Gatos, California for April 2009.

My partner and I are planning this from NYC and are not familiar with the area at all.

We will have about 80 guests who will be staying in the area.

I am looking for a good restaurant for the dinner before the wedding (Friday night) and a nice place for brunch the morning after the wedding (Sunday).

I'd say the price-point should be moderate. We have no restrictions on cuisine. We just want good quality food, great service, and a fun time. I'd say the only requirement is that the restaurants should be in or very close to Los Gatos.

Any help would be great!!!

Are all 80 people going to the dinner and brunch or is it a smaller, more intimate gathering?

It may be all 80 as they are all traveling in for the weekend.

      Thanks.

That will present a challenge. Lots of good places to eat in LG but accomodating that many will be tough. You might be able to rent out somewhere but you'd have to guarantee it. Try Forbes Steak House, Tapestry, Steamers, California Cafe and Wine Cellar. They are all in the downtown Los Gatos area but not sure how big of groups they will take.

Thanks. We are visiting next week and will check a few of these out.

What do you know of Valerianos?

Here's the website for Valerianos with fixed price group dinners starting at $35
            http://www.valerianos.com/

I haven't been there but Dio Deka does a Sunday Brunch and has a private dining area for groups of up to 125.

We got married at Nestldown and held our rehearsal dinner in a private room at Hotel Los Gatos. Not sure about the price point -- we were mostly concern about having enough space. Had a great time!

        Thanks.
We just got back and loved the area!!!
I think we'll do the brunch at Dio Deka at Hotel Los Gatos.
California Cafe looked good, although they didnt have one room that would fit everyone. They also wont do a price fixed beverage (wine/beer) menu, making it difficult to budget.

Wine Cellar has a minimum of $10,000 for a party of our size - out of the question!!

We passed by Valerianos and it was either out of business or under construction. Any idea?

Thanks for the responses. I'm still searching for the dinner place!!

I will have to see what is up with Valeriano's. I love Dio Dekka so I'm sure you and your guests will enjoy it. Did you consider Trevese for the dinner? I didn't recommend Dio Dekka because it's a higher price point but if you consider it moderate, then Trevese might be for you. If you don't mind a little drive, you could also check out Alexander's steak house. It's in Cupertino but it is a short drive. You might also want to check out The Plumed Horse in Saratoga.
