Seattle and Portland Food Tours

I'll be visiting Seattle and Portland (two of my favourite cities) in early Oct. I've already booked the Portland walking food tour as I thought it would be a fun thing to do on my final day. I've noticed that a number of these tours are now being offered in Seattle also and I wondered what local Chowhounds think about them. Are they worthwhile or would I be as well to seek out interesting food locations by myself?. I've been to the Portland Farmers Market and Pike Place Market before as well as many interesting speciality stores and great restaurants in both cities (and look forward to revisiting many of them). I like the idea of spending a few hours with others discussing some local food treats so I'm sure I'll enjoy the one I've already booked.
I'm grateful for any views you might have
Thanks
Pete (UK)

I don't have an opinion on the tours, but if you go to http://www.portlandfood.org you can see if you'll be in town for any of their regular meetups where you could discuss the local foods with locals.
